Our best barometer for this will be the IGoogle programs we start this year with our 9th grade English and life skills classes. The one aspect of the collaboration process that I have not involved myself in is the after-assessment. After going through the assessment measures in Sharing the Evidence, I can say that the organization is strong, access is very strong, circulation is up 35%; but facilities are a big challenge especially because the physical space is so small. If I truly want to measure impact I’m going to have to put my assessment coordinators cap back on. Prior to becoming the librarian, I was the school’s assessment coordinator and statistician. I have numerous ways to incorporate the student data systems (SASIxp and Classxp) into the assessment process by cross-referencing standardized testing, other achievement measures (grades, AP scores, PSAT benchmarks) but I also need to incorporate those measures into student reflections to get a authentic measure of student achievement.
